Hold On Tight Here I Go!

CRAP! Yes that is what Baggio wants us to remember when we design. Contrast, Repetition, Alignment and Proximity. Baggio insists that using good visual practices when you design presentations and e-learning modules is about a lot more than just looking good. I must say that I don't spend much time designing slides for my lessons but I am curious and want to look into how all these design rules can be applied to my regular teaching day. How can I as a teacher make myself more interesting to my students. I need that missing piece of the bridge that is going to help me cross and bring all my students with me. I need to connect visuals with my teaching effectively.

As a P.E. teacher, I rarely use pictures in my lesson plan either. I just write up the agenda on a mini white board. When I presented my PBL Crossfit project to my students, I was thinking how can I grab their attention and interest. Taking ideas from our class at Touro, I use short videos that had music in the background. I can't believe how in-tuned and laser focused my students were while watching the video on fitness and exercising. What surprised me the most how tech savvy these 6th graders were using technology to present their PBL. I applaud you and other elementary teachers in preparing these students with 21st Century learning skills.

Marisabel, like you, now I see all these important elements Baggio talks about in my everyday life. It's wired how I never noticed these things before, and now I see the purpose behind it. Like Baggio says, the more we do it, the more natural it will become for us. Hang in there, because that bridge will come.

Maybe we can make that part of grade level collaboration conversations. How can we make our teaching more visual for our students? I think that we need to go back to implementing the GLAD strategies. How can we GLADify and create more visually appealing presentations using the new language arts program?? Maybe if we work together, we can figure out how to build that bridge.
