Hold On Tight Here I Go!
Marisabel's Blog
Well, if I though putting a video together was difficult I hadn't been asked to put together a presentation poster. I am having a difficult time adding my graphs. One graph I was able to make again which I wish I didn't have to. I am going to ask and do some more research before I go and make my others that are not as simple. I'm not sure why I can't just drag and drop my bar graph? And I just can't do everything they are asking me to do! My introduction has to provide adequate context but must be brief and oh ya, it needs to include background and need but make sure it doesn't have to much text because that's a DON'T. Oh man, this just seems like I can't cut my research down enough without losing the heart of my work.

I agree that is it a challenging task, and that making and configuring the graphs is such a challenge! I like the way the Google created graphs look but it is so hard to do anything with them. Amanda and I were talking today about how we can't figure out how to add text labels to our graphs so we keep downloading them and typing over it in a text box. We have come a long way in this program, but it seems like in this last few weeks we have a long way to go! I know we can do it, but I agree that it's asking a lot of us and it feels so overwhelming right now.

The poster and executive summary tasks were by far the most challenging of the semester for me, and along with the seemingly infinite pages on the website to fill out created such an overwhelming feeling. I agree that the formatting, as well as, the summarizing of research was by far the most time consuming part. We all know that I already struggle writing in a concise manner so to be asked to take a year's worth of research and condense it down to fit in a executive summary or poster seemed dauntingly impossible, especially when trying to make sure that it is appealing to the eye and not too wordy at the same time. In addition, I had to remake all of my data charts and graphs in order to update them with new information, and it took me quite some time to remember how to go about creating such data visuals. When any image became difficult to place or edit, screenshots and the Paint program were there to rescue me!
